Hello Dolphin Swimmers!
This week’s book is The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. My mom bought me a copy of this book when I was a Senior in high school. It’s been on my bookshelf for 30 years. I have read it to many students! I’m sorry I can’t read it to you while you sit on the rug at ODE, but I think the lady in the video does a nice job of reading it, too. She asks a few questions and points a few things out while she reads. Enjoy!

Story Sequencing –
Cut out the strips. Try to put them in the order they happened in the story. Then, go back and listen to the book again – see if you were correct! Make any necessary changes, then glue the strips on a piece of paper. Tell the story to someone in your house.
Be an animal in the tree –
Imagine you are an animal living in the Kapok tree. Finish the sentence in the speech bubble, then draw a picture of your animal in the space on the left. Post a picture of your work on the ODE Facebook page, or email me a photo – I would LOVE to see it!
