Mapping Kentucky & Virginia—work on projects—vocabulary quiz

Week Three: 

Mapping South Carolina & Georgia—Student projects presented

Week Four: 

Mapping Alabama & Louisiana—Student projects presented

Week Five: 

Florida—Student projects

Week Six: 

Arkansas & Louisiana — Review for test

Week Seven:

Southern States Test and Review

Week Eight: 

Intro to Midwest States and Mapping Ohio & Michigan

Course Materials:

  1. A three-ring binder for US Geography with 8 divider tabs
  2. Purchase one of the following two atlases:  Preferred–  Desk Atlas of the United States  (ISBN:978-1-931397-72-8), published 2014, available on Amazon for $19.95  or   Children’s Illustrated Atlas of the United States (ISBN-10   0528934597) published 2005. This is currently out of print, but available used on Amazon or about $6.50. If you have questions about the atlases, please email me.
  3. Colored pencils

 

Week One:

Geography and US Geography overview—5 themes of Geography, types of maps, latitude and longitude, possible project.  Put together our Geography binders.

Week Two:

General Geography and New England States: Mapping Maine & Massachusetts-student reports assigned.

Week Three:

New England States: Mapping New Hampshire and Vermont, student reports

Week Four:

Mapping Connecticut and Rhode Island, student reports

Week Five:

Test on New England states, introduction to Mid-Atlantic States: mapping New York and New Jersey

Week Six:

Mapping Pennsylvania and West Virginia, student reports

Week Seven:

Mapping Maryland and Delaware, student reports

Week Eight:

Mid-Atlantic States Test and Review
