Bridge European History

Josh Ginter

This class is not active

Class Time:

11:30AM - 12:30 PM

Class Description:

Why study European history over any other history; say Asian or African history? While the study of any history offers insight into the world around us European history offers a unique perspective for us in the western world. The culture that we live in, indeed the entire culture of western civilization has been primarily shaped by the events and figures of Europe. Where did Thomas Jefferson get the idea for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Why are there so many Christian denominations? Who invented the word “fashionable?” These are the kinds of questions that we will be exploring through our study of European history from the renaissance through the Cold War and how it impacts our world today.

All materials will be provided

One Day Enrichment 2021-2022

Mr. Schonta

Why study European History?

The history of the western world is largely the history of the European world. The way that we think and the things that we hold true are largely influenced by the European people and events of the past. While it is worthwhile to study any number of histories, the history of Europe helps us to understand ourselves in a unique way.

Course Objectives:

  • Have a better understanding of the geography of Europe.
  • Help identify and order key events and people as they pertain to the history of Europe.
  • Develop critical thinking, research and writing skills.
