British Literature Emphasis
Are you up for a challenge? This year’s literature class has the AP English Literature and Composition option. We will explore the roots of British literature with Sir Gawain and Mabinogian, then move on to everyone’s favorite bard, Mr. Shakespeare. From there we will visit the genteel world of Victorian England. Session Four will contain some surprises. We will do all this while also acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to take the AP English test in May.
This class will necessitate occasional mid-week meetings either in person or online. (If you decide not to take the AP test you will be exempted from these meetings, though I encourage you to participate if possible.) Extra educational videos and readings will be required. We will cover in-depth studies of poetry, short stories, drama and novels.
Students will be required to check the online homework site and come to class with their reading and writing assignments completed thoroughly and thoughtfully. There will be frequent quizzes and tests.
Please bring a three-ring notebook and lined paper. We will be adding Major Works Reviews, writing assignments, vocabulary, concepts, etc. to this Class Journal throughout the year.
I look forward to learning together this year!
